Bethlehem, PA 18017 United States
+ Google Map

6d8e932e48e2705862bda8a93d74e07bPody Vanderwall is the great-granddaughter of Jessie Catherine Kinsley, and she will speak to us about the fascinating life and art of Kinsley, whose silk "braided tapestries" are exquisite fiber art creations.  Kinsley was born into a religious community that had unusual ideas that eventually caused its members to disband.  At the break up of this community, she married another member and raised a family.  During much of her life she braided beautiful and lustrous tapestries, often with accompanying text in the braids. Her work was famous and toured the country in the early part of the 1900's, and remains on display at the Oneida Community Mansion House and Museum in Oneida, NY.
