The Rug Challenge for 2017 is "The Four Seasons." You are challenged to make a rug that is at least 50% braided and reflects whatever that topic brings to mind. (Even just ONE season is okay!) While Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons gives us a beat, Oh What A Night we'll have early May in 2017 as we see what amazing rugs this challenge always provokes creative braiders to make.
Show and Tell is the second half of our night, and please bring items to show off and share with other braiders. I know you are proud of your work, so bring it for others to appreciate! Beginner works are welcome.Find out more »
Pody Vanderwall is the great-granddaughter of Jessie Catherine Kinsley, and she will speak to us about the fascinating life and art of Kinsley, whose silk "braided tapestries" are exquisite fiber art creations. Kinsley was born into a religious community that had unusual ideas that eventually caused its members to disband. At the break up of this community, she married another member and raised a family. During much of her life she braided beautiful and lustrous tapestries, often with accompanying text in the braids. Her work was famous and toured the country in the early part of the 1900's, and remains on display at the Oneida Community Mansion House and Museum in Oneida, NY.Find out more »
