Description:
Braid a bowl or mat from hand dyed velvet!
Shimmery, spectacular stretch velvet is a fantastic fabric for fancy braided tabletop pieces. Learn the tips and techniques for working with this warm and slightly finicky fabric, which seems to catch and hold the light in its braids.
From cutting strips, to braiding, to lacing, tapering and butting, each step is similar to braiding with wool but… just a little bit different.
Braid a bowl or mat out of her hand dyed velvet, which can vary from dip dyed, spot dyed or slightly mottled. Braid with all velvet or mix with wool.
Class fee includes 1/3 yd of velvet, enough to make a 8-10” bowl or mat.
Rug hookers are invited to contact Dianne about making a combined hooked/braided bowl or mat.

Maximum number of students: 20
Minimum number of students: 2
